Katherine Heigl discusses how growing up as a child in a 'white bubble' has impacted the way that she raised her adoptive family of multiracial origins. The actress "Firefly Lane" told an interviewer that it did not matter the color of her skin for her. After meeting her adopted Korean American older sister she realized the difference in how people were treated by her. "I asked my sister, Meg to tell me if she'd been treated in one manner when she was going out with us parents and in a different manner when she was out on her own without anyone else. She replied, "Oh yeah, always!" It made me realize I had been so naive," Heigl said to parents. Heigl said she got upset and believed it was important to focus her anger towards helping her adopted daughters. Heigl has a son who is four year with Josh Kelley, her husband over the last 13 years. Their daughter Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009. Adalaide is an Black 8-year-old girl they adopted in 2012.
