Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of vulnerable but strong characters. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and raised by a single mother who made a living in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer, eventually studying acting, initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After two years of her graduation, she launched an Broadway career. The following year, she began her career in the world of television. Over the past few years, she's appeared in numerous film, TV as well as stage productions. Her achievements have been numerous throughout her career such as several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Her nominations include five Tony Awards and three Academy Award nominations.
